The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced extended banking hours to make it easier for taxpayers to pay their government duties and taxes before the end of the financial deadline.
Under the new arrangement, commercial bank branches across the country will remain open until 10:00 PM on Wednesday, September 30, 2026. The decision was made following a request from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to provide taxpayers with additional time to complete their payments.
Bank Branches to Remain Open Late
Taxpayers who need to make payments through bank counters will be able to visit designated commercial bank branches during the extended hours. The measure is particularly aimed at facilitating over-the-counter (OTC) payments of government taxes and duties.
Banks have also been instructed to keep relevant branches operational for as long as necessary to support the special clearing of government transactions conducted by the National Institutional Facilitation Technologies (NIFT).

The SBP has also emphasized the continued availability of digital payment facilities. Banks are required to ensure that their internet banking services, mobile applications, ATMs, and other online payment platforms remain available without interruption.
This will allow taxpayers who prefer digital transactions to submit their government payments without having to visit a physical bank branch.

The extended banking schedule provides taxpayers with additional flexibility on the final day for government tax and duty payments. Those who have yet to complete their payments can use either the extended branch hours or available digital banking channels.
