The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has intensified its investigation into the administration of Auqaf properties in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by requesting computerized land records from all districts of the province. The expanded inquiry aims to examine allegations of corruption, abuse of authority, and procedural irregularities linked to the management of Waqf properties.
The request has been made to the Board of Revenue, which has been directed to provide certified digital land records to assist investigators in verifying ownership details and reviewing official documentation.
Province-Wide Data Collection Ordered
As part of the ongoing investigation, NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has asked the Board of Revenue to submit certified extracts from computerized land records maintained across every district in the province. The records have been requested by August 7, 2026, to support the bureau’s examination of Auqaf-related assets.
The inquiry is being conducted under the National Accountability Ordinance, 1999, and involves officials of the Auqaf Department as well as any other individuals who may be connected to the alleged irregularities.
Review of Waqf Assets
NAB has referred to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Waqf Properties Ordinance, 1979, which defines Waqf properties as assets dedicated to religious, charitable, or public welfare purposes. Under the law, these properties may qualify as Waqf even if documentary evidence of the original endowment is unavailable.
By reviewing land records, investigators hope to determine whether all eligible properties have been properly identified, recorded, and administered under the relevant legal framework.
Revenue Records Under Examination
In addition to collecting district-wide land records, NAB has specifically requested information on properties where the Auqaf Department appears in the Column of Cultivation within the official revenue record.
This exercise will allow investigators to compare revenue data with departmental records and identify any inconsistencies related to ownership, possession, or management of Auqaf properties.
Accuracy of Information Emphasized
The accountability bureau has instructed the Board of Revenue to provide certified and accurate information. It has also cautioned that supplying incorrect data, concealing material facts, or submitting misleading information could lead to legal consequences under the National Accountability Ordinance.
