The Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) has taken a significant step toward administrative reorganization by closing six of its regional offices across Pakistan. The decision is part of an internal restructuring plan aimed at improving efficiency and reducing operational overlap.

Officials have confirmed that the regional offices in Mianwali, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Hyderabad, Sukkur, and Abbottabad are no longer operational. Along with these closures, several Advisors-in-Charge have been withdrawn from their posts. Advisors stationed in Mianwali and Sargodha have been among those affected by the changes.

As part of the realignment, the advisor formerly based in Gujranwala has been reassigned to the Sialkot regional office, ensuring continuity of advisory services in the area. Additionally, the operations of the Hyderabad and Sukkur offices have been combined, allowing both regions to be managed under a unified administrative setup.

A formal notification issued by the FTO Secretariat on Monday outlined the procedural steps following the closures. The directive instructed Advisors-in-Charge to serve notices to landlords for vacating the office premises in accordance with existing rental agreements. It also emphasized the need to clear any outstanding dues related to the offices.

Furthermore, the notification highlighted the importance of proper asset management during the transition. Officials were directed to document and transfer all physical assets, including both consumable and non-consumable items, while keeping the Secretariat fully informed throughout the process.

This organizational overhaul reflects the FTO’s broader effort to streamline its operations and enhance administrative effectiveness across the country.
