In an effort to make tax compliance easier and more accessible, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is stepping up its engagement with Pakistan’s business community. By focusing on online tax return filing and voluntary compliance, the FBR aims to simplify tax procedures and encourage businesses to become part of the documented economy.

As part of this initiative, the Taxpayers’ Services (TPS) Wing of the FBR organized a tax awareness session at the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) in Islamabad. The session was held under the guidance of Chairman FBR Rashid Mahmood Langrial and supervised by Member TPS, Ms. Tehmima Aamir. This event was one of many under FBR’s ongoing Tax Awareness Outreach Programmed, which seeks to build trust, improve understanding, and enhance compliance among taxpayers.

The FBR delegation was led by Muhammad Muti-ur-Rehman Mumtaz, Secretary Tax Education and Facilitation, accompanied by Abdul Rehman Sheikh, Second Secretary Tax Facilitation, and other officials from the TPS Wing. From FPCCI, Vice President Tariq Jadoon, Chairman Capital Office Karim Aziz Malik, and several executive members participated in the session. Business representatives from different cities also joined remotely through a video link, reflecting strong nationwide interest.

During the session, Muhammad Muti-ur-Rehman Mumtaz provided an overview of FBR’s role, responsibilities, and ongoing reform measures aimed at modernizing the tax system. This was followed by a detailed presentation from Abdul Rehman Sheikh, who explained various tax awareness initiatives and walked participants through the process of filing income tax returns online in a clear, step-by-step manner.

The session was highly interactive, with business participants actively raising questions related to taxation, registration, and compliance. FBR officials addressed these concerns thoroughly, helping to clear misconceptions and provide practical guidance. Attendees welcomed the initiative and appreciated FBR’s efforts to move towards a more transparent, user-friendly, and digitally driven tax system.

The event concluded on a positive note with the exchange of souvenirs, symbolizing continued cooperation between FBR and FPCCI. Such engagements highlight FBR’s commitment to fostering voluntary tax compliance and strengthening partnerships with the business community for sustainable economic growth.
