In an effort to ease pressure on taxpayers and ensure uninterrupted revenue collection, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced that all tax offices across Pakistan will remain open on Saturday, January 31, 2026.

The decision means that January 31 will be treated as a regular working day for all major tax formations. Offices including Large Taxpayers’ Offices (LTOs), Medium Taxpayers’ Offices (MTOs), Corporate Tax Offices (CTOs), and Regional Tax Offices (RTOs) will remain fully operational, particularly for the receipt of taxes and duties.

According to FBR officials, the move is aimed at giving individuals and businesses extra time to complete tax-related matters ahead of month-end deadlines. Many taxpayers find it difficult to visit tax offices during the workweek, often leading to last-minute congestion and delays. By keeping offices open on a weekend, the authority hopes to spread out foot traffic and improve overall service delivery.

The step also reflects FBR’s broader focus on taxpayer facilitation and compliance. Ensuring accessibility at critical collection periods helps reduce bottlenecks and encourages timely payments, which are essential for meeting national revenue targets.

Taxpayers planning to avail themselves of this facility are advised to visit their respective offices during normal office hours on Saturday, January 31, to avoid delays and ensure their tax matters are processed smoothly.

The extended operations underline FBR’s intent to balance enforcement with facilitation, particularly at times when compliance deadlines place added pressure on both taxpayers and tax authorities.
